Woodpecker drums out a new message for me!

[cannot find a name to attribute this photo to, if anyone knows, let me know please]

There is a live-streaming video of a Red Shafted Northern Flicker up and running - the nest is in Maple Ridge, BC.

I have been watching it over the past couple of days, then i decided that it would be appropriate to do a Post about it at DragonflyBog. So i went and fetched my Animal-Speak Bible -- turning to page 142 I was astonished to read:
"FLICKER Keynote: New Rhythm of Growth and Healing Love." WOW! here we go again; the magic is back! This is noteworthy because on Saturday i told my daughter that i was not going to bother to be kind to people who are unkind to me, then on Sunday morning i decided that this was completely negative and decided that i was going to work at being my old lovable self again. I got my Goenka-ji Vipasenna CD and did an extensive medidation, sending healing energy to my mom, myself and my cat.

In Animal-Speak,Ted Andrews writes:
"The Chippewa medicine man Sun Bear speaks of the flicker as the totem for the Strong Sun Moon in Medicine Wheel astrology. This corresponds to the period between June 21 to July 22, or the sign of Cancer in traditional astrology. To the Native American it is an especially courageious bird....The red on the back of its head reflects a stimulation of the chakra centers of the head--the throat, brow, and crown centers. These centers will be stimulated into new activity. This reflects that latent talents and intuition are going to be activated to a greater degree. It usually reflects, especially when it is a red shafted flicker, that the stimulation of the latent talents and intuition are going to be a catalyst for major creative changes in your life. Your physical and material life is going to change. When it is a yellow-shafted flicker, the changes will occur more in your own perception than in the outer world....

The black crescent is also significant, more so because it is over the breast area. The moon is a symbof of sensitivity and emotions. The black color of the moon often reflects the phase known as the New Moon. The flicker thus symbolizes a new sensitivity of the heart that is about to be awakened. This will stimulate new healing energies, and it can reflect that you will experience emotions more intensely."

This is so 'RIGHT ON' for me now, and i think back to a couble of months ago when i was walking in my little neighbourhood park and saw one of these woodpeckers. I tried to take a photograph of it but it was too far away. By the time i got home i had forgotten about it. And during a visit to my friend in Yarrow just before the beginning of spring i saw a tiny bird which i later identified as the Downy Woodpecker...but now FLICKER shows up again...tapping and drumming a message to me that i cannot now ignore.

There is a general misconception in the public that HALAL (muslim ritual slaughter) is inhumane/ causes undue suffering to the animals. Well this is wrong... this articles tries to prove the case for Halal Slaughter referencing a recent study... check it out
